Exam & Promotion

CBSE insists on CCE (Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation) of students. CCE is based on the performance of a child in regular scholastic activities and periodic co scholastic activities.

SCHOLASTIC AREA

Every academic year is divided in to ‘Term1 ( from April to September)’ and ‘Term 2 ( from October to March)’.  During the first term, the student will have two Pre Midterm tests ( Pre Midterm tests 1 & 2) and a Midterm test. Similarly, the second term will have Post Midterm tests 1& 2 followed by Terminal test.

Assessment will be on the basis of Unit tests, assignments, C.W., H.W., Practical work, Projects, Oral testing, Quiz, experiments and other activities in the class.

Students  of  Middle school & Secondary classes are assessed with the conventional ‘numerical marking’ scheme in the following subjects- English, II language, Mathematics, Science , Social Science, III language and also in the ‘ Fundamentals of IT’. Based on marks, grades will be awarded.

Summative assessment will be carried out at the end of every term. This will be a term end exam i.e. first and second term exam.

Students of Primary classes will be assessed with the conventional numerical marking scheme in Tamil, Hindi, English, Mathematics and EVS. Based on the scores, the following grades are being awarded-

* Students who obtain grades D and E will have to improve their performance through subsequent attempts (For computer and 3rd language, students with grade E will have to improve their performance).* The students who obtain a qualifying grade (C2 & above) in all subjects will be awarded a qualifying certificate. For computer and third language, a qualifying grade D and above would be considered.

* Those who get qualifying certificates will be eligible for promotion to the next class.
Exemptions available to differently abled students as per CBSE’s rule will continue to apply.

CO-SCHOLASTIC AREA

Every term, students will be assessed on Life Skills, Attitudes & Values, Art, Craft, Health & hygiene, Work Education, Literary & Aesthetic skills and also on ‘Leadership & organizational’ skills. Grades will be awarded on a 5 point scale
