ASSESSMENT TEST

Pre-Primary: Admissions at the Pre-Primary level are based only on interviews with candidates’ parents/guardians and observation of the candidates by teachers. A candidate’s basic skills in English and Mathematics are evaluated as required in the class to which admission is sought.

Classes I and above: Candidates for admission to Classes I and above sit for a written test first and on being considered fit to go into the next level, appear for an interview along with their parents/guardians. Candidate should attend the Test/Interview along with their parents. Test will be conducted based on the syllabus of the previous class.

Duration of the test is 1 ½ hrs to 3 hrs (100 Marks)

SUBJECTS

Grades 1-5   :        English , Mathematics, Tamil

Grades 6-9   :        English, Mathematics  and II Lang

Grade 11      :        (depends on the stream chosen)

The candidate will be selected, if he/she secures 60% and above in the Entrance Test

REGISTRATION

When a candidate’s application for admission has been approved, the parent will be asked to arrange fee payments within a week. This completes the registration process and the student can begin classes as per arrangement with school administration.

ADMISSION POLICY

Entry to Thamarai does not solely depend on examination results, although the majority of places offered are conditional upon a satisfactory performance at the common entrance exam. The main criteria for acceptance are evidence of sound character and willingness to work together with a keenness to take full advantage of what we offer and a genuine wish to enter Thamarai.

PRELIMINARY ENQUIRIES

To find out more about the School, parents can explore our website www.thamaraischools.org and are also most welcome to pay us an informal visit. This will involve a tour of the School with a current pupil and a general discussion with the Principal, for which you could ask the Public Relation Officer to help you out. Interest in joining Thamarai is growing annually and a waiting list is applied each year. It is therefore important to register early. Registration reserves a provisional place dependent upon a good school report and interview

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

For the current Academic year, i.e., 2018-2019, Thamarai International School, Kumbakonam offers admissions from PRE-KG to X.  Candidates seeking admission to Classes I – X sit for a written test first and on being considered fit to go into the next level, appear for an interview along with their parents/guardians.

AGE REQUIREMENT

Subject to availability of seats at TIS admits all the  students within the normal range of ability. Normal minimum ages as on 30th Aug. in the year of entry are as follows:

PRE –KG 2+ 6 months
LKG 3+ 6 months
UKG 4+ 6 months
Class I 5+ 6 months
Class II 6+ 6 months
Class III 7+ 6 months
Class IV 8+ 6 months
Class V 9+ 6 months
Class VI 10+ 6 months
Class VII 11+ 6 months
Class VIII 12+ 6 months
Class IX 13+ 6 months
Class X 14+ 6 months

DOCUMENTS TO BE ENCLOSED ALONG WITH APPLICATION FORM-

  • Attested copy of the Birth Certificate.
  • Copies of the candidate’s school reports and transcripts for the current year and/or completed year (in English). Additionally, a bonafide certificate from the School in which the candidate is studying may be submitted.
  • 3 passport-size color photographs of the candidate.
  • Transfer Certificate (T.C.)

TRANSFER CERTIFICATE (T.C.)

If the candidate is studying in an Un-Recognized School, he/she has to submit the Original Date of Birth Certificate for Private Study.
If the candidate is studying in other states (e.g., Andhra Pradesh, Kerala etc.) they should get the counter signature of the T.C. from the Education Department of the particular state.

ADMISSION WILL NOT BE COMPLETED UNLESS T.C. / BIRTH CERTIFICATE IS PRODUCED.
